Ibrahim Sekagya

Born in Kawempe Kampala, Sekagya started his senior career with Kampala City Council in 1997, before moving to Argentina in 2001 to try and make a career in football. His first Argentine club was Atlético de Rafaela in the Primera B Nacional. In 2002, he moved to Ferro Carril Oeste in the Primera B Metropolitana, subsequently helping the team to win the league and secure promotion to the Primera B Nacional. In 2005, he was signed by Arsenal de Sarandí of the Argentine Primera División, where he spent two seasons.

David Obua

David Obua is a Ugandan footballer who most recently played as a Midfielder for Scottish Premier League club Hearts and the Uganda national team.

Having arrived at Hearts as a left wing-back, Obua was primarily used as a left-sided midfield player, although he also played a number of games as a striker..

Margaret Blick Kigozi

Doctor Margaret Blick Kigozi, commonly known as Dr. Maggie Kigozi, is a Ugandan medical doctor, business consultant,university chancellor and sportswoman. Currently, she works as a consultant at United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO). She formerly served as the Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority from 1999 until 2011

 

John Akii-Bua

 John Akii-Bua was a Ugandan hurdler and the first Olympic champion from his country in 1972 - 400m hurdles. As a police officer, Akii-Bua was promoted by Ugandan president Idi Amin, and given a house, as a reward for his athletic prowess. Akii-Bua died a widower, at the age of 47, survived by 11 of his children. He was given a state funeral.

Stephen Kiprotich

Stephen Kiprotich is a Ugandan long-distance runner, born in Kapchorwa District. He is the 2012 Olympic champion in the marathon, with a winning time of 2:08:01 in hot, sunny, and humid conditions.

This was the first Olympic medal for Uganda since 1996, the first gold medal since 1972, and the first ever in the marathon. His winning of the Moscow IAAF championship marathon on 17 August 2013 has made him the reigning World and Olympic marathon champion.
